Next Week: We will be on Spring Break next week! NO SCHOOL March 25th-29th!
After Break: When we return from break, we will learn about eggs. Throughout the week, we will learn about “Oviparous” animals (those that hatch from an egg). We will read several non-fiction books about eggs and specifically focus on one called Chicken Aren’t the Only Ones. After reading the book each student will make his/her own book about oviparous animals. Look for these egg-cellent books to come home on Wednesday. As part of our math lessons, we will complete Chapter 12 of our Go Math Program: Classify and Sort Data. As part of our language arts lessons, we will work on "sentence builders" (using a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence, lower case letters in words, and punctuation at the end of the sentence). Please reinforce these writing "rules" when working with your child at home. Thanks! Also on the 20th, your child will come home with a collection of papers and assessments that he/she has completed over the last few weeks. Please note that some of the items on our achievement record have not been assessed at this time. These particular items have been left blank. Each quarter we only assess the skills which we have introduced and practiced thoroughly. Please take some time to review your child's progress and discuss your child’s growth with him/her. I recommend that you use this information to help your child set learning goals for the remainder of the school year. Please sign and return the white envelope as soon as possible. We will reuse this envelope for our 4th quarter AR's. All other papers, including the Achievement Record, are yours to keep at home.
